Voxdev Editor-in-Chief, Tavneet Suri, explains how problems with technology during Kenya's 2013 elections have implications for this year’s vote.

The 2013 election in Kenya was noticible for its introduction of biometric recognition systems and digital result reporting, but a widespread failure of these systems on the day meant a last-minute return to manual methods, along with a reduced trust in the election system itself.  Tavneet Suri looks at result of research that was done surrounding that election and talks about what the electoral administration should be aiming to improve in the run up to the August 2017 election.
