Bjorn Van Campenhout

Bjorn Van Campenhout is a research fellow in the Development Strategy and Governance division of IFPRI and an associate research fellow of the LICOS centre for institutions and economic performance at KU Leuven, Leuven, Belgium. He obtained his PhD in economics from the KULeuven, Belgium. He has extensive expertise in agricultural economics and food policy in developing countries. He has worked on various topics along agricultural commodity value chains, including on market integration, smallholder market participation and price volatility. More recently, he has started to explore the potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to increase effectiveness and inclusivity of agricultural advisory services. Having lived for substantial periods in Tanzania and Uganda, his geographic focus is mainly East and Southern Africa.
