Kalle Hirvonen

Kalle Hirvonen is a development economist and a Senior Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Institute (IFPRI). He is based in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia working in the Ethiopia Strategy Support Program and IFPRI's Development Strategy and Governance Division. ​Through his research, Kalle seeks to understand how to sustainably improve nutrition and food security outcomes in low-income countries. Thematically, this work sits at the intersection of development, health and agricultural economics. He has done extensive work in areas of social protection, agriculture-nutrition linkages, food systems, value chains and food markets. Most of his research focuses on Ethiopia and is based on statistical analyses of primary data from large-scale household surveys or randomized controlled trials.
