Economic Research Advisor, Federal Reserve Bank of New York
Danial Lashkari is an economic research advisor in Labor and Product Markets. His research studies different long-run drivers of economic change, including the innovation activity of firms, technological breakthroughs, transformations in the consumption patterns of households, and globalization. He joined the New York Fed in 2023, and currently also serves as a research affiliate at the MIT FutureTech and the Stanford Digital Economy Labs. From 2018 to 2023, he was an assistant professor of economics and international studies at Boston College, holding the White Family assistant professorship chair between 2020 and 2023. He has been a Shoven/SIEPR Young Scholar at Stanford University (2021–2022), and a Cowles Foundation postdoctoral associate at the Yale University department of economics (2017–2018). Danial holds a PhD degree from the Harvard economics department (2017), as well as a PhD degree from the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), where he worked on a number of applications of machine learning techniques in cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging (2011). He received MSc and BSc degrees from the University of Tehran, Iran.
