Alberto Simpser

Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science, ITAM

Alberto Simpser is Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science and Faculty Affiliate at the Center for Economic Research at ITAM in Mexico City. His research focuses on the political economy of development, democratic accountability, election fraud, corruption, and behavioral public policy. Prior to joining ITAM in 2014, he was faculty at the University of Chicago’s Political Science Department. Prof. Simpser’s research has been published by Cambridge University Press and in academic journals including American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, Journal of Public Economics, and PLoS ONE. He holds a PhD in political science and an MA in economics from Stanford University, and a B.Sc. in environmental engineering sciences from Harvard College.
