Chaoran Chen is currently an Assistant Professor at York University. His research interests are in macroeconomics and economic development. His work focuses on understanding the observed cross-country productivity differences through the lens of resource misallocation and structural transformation, using both general equilibrium models and micro data. He is also interested in the economics of inequality. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Economics from Fudan University, China.
