Mattea Stein

PhD Candidate in Economics, Paris School of Economics

Mattea Stein is a PhD Candidate in Economics at the Paris School of Economics. Her current research focuses on the interactions of firms in developing countries through formal and informal institutions, and their interactions with the state. She is working on firm network formation and network change, and information sharing through networks, as well as judicial efficiency for formal dispute resolution and leveraging networks for tax compliance.

Before starting her PhD, Mattea worked at the World Bank's Development Impact Evaluation Initiative (DIME), where she is currently a research consultant. She holds master's degrees from the University of Oxford (Economics for Development) and from the Paris School of Economics (Economics), and a BA in International Relations from the Technical University Dresden, with a semester abroad at the University of Ouagadougou.
