Nkechi Owoo

Nkechi S. Owoo is a Professor of Economics at the University of Ghana and a development economist specializing in gender, health, and environmental economics. Her research focuses on the intersections of climate risk, poverty, and social outcomes in Africa, with particular emphasis on household behaviour, labour markets, health and demographic change. She is a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on several international research programmes, including projects funded by the World Bank and the Wellcome Trust.
Professor Owoo has served as a consultant to governments and global institutions on poverty, jobs, agriculture, and climate policy, and has contributed to flagship reports for organizations such as the United Nations Environment Programme and UNICEF. Her work is widely published in leading academic journals and policy platforms. She is also actively engaged in global research networks, contributing to evidence-based policy debates on inclusive and sustainable development.
