Erwin Bulte
Professor of Development Economics, Wageningen University
Erwin Bulte is a professor of Development Economics at Wageningen University. He has also held visiting positions at universities including Oxford and Cambridge, and is a member of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). His research lies at the intersection of development economics, institutional economics, and natural resource management. He has worked extensively on topics such as property rights, social capital, leadership, and the political economy of conflict and cooperation. Methodologically, Erwin has employed both randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental approaches, often in collaboration with NGOs and government agencies. He has conducted fieldwork across Africa and Asia, with projects ranging from rural development and conservation to behavioral responses to institutions and policy interventions.
