Caterina Gennaioli

Associate Professor of Environmental Economics, Queen Mary University of London

Caterina Gennaioli is an Associate Professor of Environmental Economics at Queen Mary University of London and Co-Director of the Centre for Globalisation Research. She is also a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Her research lies at the intersection of political economy, environmental policy, and development economics. Caterina's recent work focuses on three main areas: (i) climate policy evaluation, with particular attention to unintended effects such as corruption and carbon leakage; (ii) the domestic and international determinants of climate policy adoption; and (iii) the political economy of environmental issues in developing countries, including deforestation and illegal waste dumping.

Caterina holds a PhD in Economics from Bocconi University and was a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago during her doctoral studies. Before joining Queen Mary, she worked for five years as a Research Officer at the Grantham Research Institute at LSE.
