Maika Schmidt is Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Sussex, UK. Her research focuses on welfare outcomes for individuals, households, and communities in the developing world. She is an applied microeconomist studying poverty and inequality, both in the context of policy analysis and in the context of culture and family dynamics. Maika holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Sussex, a Masters and MRes from Pompeu Fabra University, and a BSc in Economics from the University of Mannheim. She has worked as a consultant for the World Bank on two Poverty and Shared Prosperity Reports.
