Guush Berhane is a Senior Research Fellow in the Innovation Policy and Scaling (IPS) unit of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). His research focuses on policies and innovations that strengthen agri-food systems, promote use of new technologies, reduce food insecurity and improve livelihoods in low- and middle-income countries, as well as impact evaluations of social programs in building local resilience and mitigating vulnerabilities in the face climate-induced shocks and conflicts. Much of his research is based on econometric, experimental and quasi-experimental impact evaluation methods. Between 2009 and 2020, he was part of IFPRI’s Ethiopia Strategy Support Program (ESSP) based in Ethiopia and has extensive filed work experience and wider engagements with policymakers and local communities.
