Ange T. Kakpo
Economist, Amazon
Ange is an Economist on the Prime Economics Team at Amazon, where he leverages causal inference and machine learning to answer applied economic questions related to Prime customer acquisition, engagement, and retention, with the goal of producing data-driven insights that directly inform business decisions at scale. His broader research interests lie in development economics, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. His work examines how climate and environmental shocks affect agricultural production, market participation, food security, labor supply, and human capital outcomes. He is particularly interested in household and market responses to extreme weather events, adaptation strategies such as livestock commercialization, and the use of modern econometric and machine-learning methods to inform policy and program design. Prior to joining Amazon, Ange was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Seattle Pacific University, where he taught economics and statistics and conducted applied research in development and environmental economics.
