David Murphy

David Murphy is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Colgate University. He is a development economist, and his work analyzes the role of information in shaping economic behavior and decision making. Much of his current research investigates how information, social institutions, and group interventions affect behavior, peer networks, and social capital in a developing country context. In particular, he studies relationships and peer effects as a means of sharing economically relevant information and his work spans agricultural, health, environmental, and network economics. Prior to receiving his PhD from Cornell University, he received a Master's degree from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and was a Peace Corps volunteer in Armenia.
