Hang Yu

Dr. Hang Yu is an Assistant Professor at the National School of Development, Peking University, and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan (2020). His work focuses on the challenges faced by the poor and informs development policies. His research spans health behavior, poverty alleviation, and international aid. Dr. Yu specializes in field experiments and data generation and has extensive field experience in developing countries, including Mozambique, Ethiopia, and Cambodia.

A widely implemented HIV/AIDS programme inadvertently decreased HIV testing by worsening misinformation and HIV-related stigmatising attitudes, but a simple follow-up intervention offset the programme’s adverse effects.
