Gustav Pirich is a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Zurich working at the intersection of environmental economics, development economics, and political economy. His recent research examines the impacts of Chinese-financed sports infrastructure in Africa and the social and environmental consequences of artisanal and industrial mining. He is broadly interested in using spatial data, causal inference, and behavioural experiments to shed light on how climate change affects livelihoods.
