Stephan Haggard is Distinguished Research Professor at the School of Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California San Diego and Research Director for Democracy and Global Governance at the UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (ICGG) where he runs the initiative on Illiberal Regimes and Global Governance. His research interests center on the international relations and comparative politics of East Asia, with a particular focus on the Korean peninsula, and on transitions to and from democratic rule.
