Tommaso Ciarli
Senior Research Fellow, UNU-MERIT
Tommaso Ciarli is a Senior Research Fellow in the Economics of Innovation at UNU-MERIT, United Nations University, and at SPRU, University of Sussex. His work explores how innovation, emerging technologies, and structural change influence employment, inequality, and sustainable development. He combines quantitative and computational methods with policy-oriented research, and has led large-scale international projects funded by over 25 organisations. His publications span fields such as development economics, economics of science and technology, science policy, and ecological economics. He has served as an advisor to numerous governments and multilateral organisations, including the UN, EU, and Development Banks. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Birmingham and the University of Ferrara.
