Migrant workers in the Gulf region are put at risk by abusive employers. In this VoxDevTalk, A. Nilesh Fernando discusses his work with Niharika Singh, which uses data on over 1.5 million Sri Lankan migrants to the Gulf region to explore policies that can lessen the risk associated with these roles. Their research shows that the Sri Lankan government regulator can improve the quality of placements for migrants by creating a rating criteria and publicly revealing prospective employers ratings.
