Christoph Trebesch is Director of the Research Center International Finance at the Kiel Institute since April 2017, as well as Professor of Macroeconomics at Kiel University. Trebesch works at the intersection of international finance and macroeconomics, economic history, and political economy. In particular, he is an expert on sovereign debt, financial and debt crises, China’s role in global finance, and the economics of populism.
