Anna Gasten

PhD candidate in Economics, University of Göttingen

Anna Gasten is a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Göttingen. She holds an M.Sc. from the University of Frankfurt and a B.Sc. from the University of Mannheim. Using quasi-experimental methods and behavioral experiments, Anna studies the economic and social dimensions of migration and forced displacement in low- and middle-income countries. Her research explores how refugee and migrant inflows affect labor markets, welfare, and migration dynamics in host communities, as well as how international policies—such as foreign direct investment restrictions—influence migration decisions. She has collaborated with the World Bank and UNHCR for data collection in Ethiopia, Uganda and Malaysia - and, as part of the TVSEP project, conducted field work in Thailand and Vietnam.
